Specialism (CQC registration): what it means
A group of people a service tells CQC it supports, such as people living with dementia or with a learning disability.
Specialisms show who a service is set up to support, but not how experienced staff are. Ask how many people with similar needs they support now and what training staff have.
Linked terms
- Dementia care: Care from staff trained to support people living with dementia, at home or in a care home.
- Care Quality Commission (CQC): The independent regulator of health and adult social care in England, which registers, inspects and rates care services.
