Track record

Warde Aldam has been registered with CQC since November 2011, about 14 years.

CQC has published 5 overall ratings for it (2015–2022), starting at Good; it has gone up 1 and down 1 time, and is now Requires improvement.

No new overall rating has been published for 4 years. CQC re-inspects based on risk, so an old rating is not a bad sign in itself, but staff and management may have changed.

The CQC website holds 6 reports for it, the latest from 30 September 2022.

Costs to expect

We estimate Warde Aldam at £1,470–£1,800 a week for nursing care (dementia), based on published prices in the region (MHA homes publish prices a little above their area average). Over a year that is roughly £76k–£94k.

Where a resident needs nursing, the NHS pays part of the fee straight to the home as NHS-funded nursing care, regardless of who pays the rest.

Wakefield Council can help with costs for people with savings under £23,250, starting with a free assessment.

Who it can help

Taken from its CQC registration.

The inspection, summarised

  • Records for people who required the use of hoists did not always contain enough information to keep them safe.
  • The provider had auditing systems in place, however these were not always effective in identifying areas for improvement.
  • For example, concerns were found during our inspection in relation to infection control, fire safety and care plan records and these were not identified by the service.
  • We saw some furniture and flooring to be visibly stained and a malodour in some areas of the service.
